As a Kitchen Porter, your role is to help our Chefs with keeping all catering areas clean, well-maintained, and safe.

You can rely on a comprehensive orientation when you begin to assist you in adapting to your new position, followed by continuous training and development opportunities, including the option to participate in apprenticeships.

This entails access to our online portal with a range of resources to assist with personal growth & free access to LinkedIn's online learning platform.

You’ll help us make health happen by:

  • Whether you choose to wash dishes by hand or load the dishwasher, the goal is to neatly and safely store clean items to reduce the risk of breakages.

  • Cleaning kitchen floors regularly to make sure they are always clear of grease or spills.

  • Cleaning work surfaces, walls, kitchen tools, and machines following specified cleaning rotations.

  • Using kitchen appliances and moving them safely from storage to workspaces.

  • Making sure the kitchen stays clean and secure, taking out the trash, and properly storing all supplies.

  • Complying with the Food Safety and Health and Safety policies of the company at all times, and keeping all the necessary records as outlined in the HACCP policy.

Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:

You possess knowledge of Health and Safety protocols and are skilled in ensuring a clean, safe, and hygienic environment. Having a current CIEH Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (or similar) and prior experience in a catering department or kitchen would be beneficial. Ideally, you should have experience working in a care setting and familiarity with stock management. Structured and flexible, you possess the skill to collaborate effectively in a group or independently.
