The School of Medicine and Biosciences

The School of Medicine and Biosciences at UWL is a research-driven, interdisciplinary school located in West London. Our work focuses on addressing health inequalities and improving community health through local and scalable initiatives. We partner with policymakers and practitioners to develop innovative health and social care solutions. Our research themes include aging and dementia, healthcare inequalities, public health, gene-targeted cancer therapy, and translational medicine.

We offer research-led undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Biosciences and Dementia Care, providing students with the knowledge and skills needed to tackle complex health issues and drive advancements in the field.

The Role: Research Project in Dementia Care

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated individual to join the Geller Institute of Ageing and Memory as part of the METHODEM project. This project, conducted in collaboration with INTERDEM—a pan-European network of researchers focused on psychosocial interventions in dementia—aims to advance the methodological approaches to dementia research.

Key Responsibilities

  • Systematic Review: Contribute to a comprehensive systematic review of designs and methodologies for developing, evaluating, and implementing psychosocial interventions in dementia care.

  • Delphi Study Planning and Implementation: Assist in planning and conducting a Delphi study involving stakeholders such as individuals living with dementia, their carers, and policymakers. This study aims to reach a consensus on best practices and methodologies for psychosocial interventions.

  • Research Materials Preparation: Prepare and organize research materials, ensuring that all documentation is accurate and comprehensive.

  • Ethical Applications and Reports: Write and manage ethical applications and research reports, adhering to all necessary guidelines and standards.

  • Administrative Support: Provide administrative support, including scheduling meetings, coordinating the distribution of meeting documents, and ensuring smooth project operations.




The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will possess a relevant master’s degree and have experience working with or caring for individuals living with dementia. Familiarity with conducting systematic reviews is essential, and we particularly welcome candidates with experience in dementia and ageing research, as well as expertise in qualitative and quantitative methodologies and co-production.
