You’ll be working as part of a 24/7 service, providing vital support to ensure that life-saving products reach their destination—whether it’s routine deliveries or emergency "blue light" responses.

You’ll also use your excellent customer service skills to engage with hospital staff, donors, and the public, ensuring they have a positive experience with NHSBT. Additionally, you’ll carry out basic vehicle checks and ensure that all equipment and stock are securely loaded, unloaded, and maintained according to our high standards.

You’ll also benefit from:

  • Ongoing Assessments and Support: We provide continuous assessment and development opportunities to help you achieve your career ambitions.

  • Additional Training: You’ll receive specialised training in areas such as "blue light" emergency driving, vehicle safety, and customer service, allowing you to develop a wide range of transferable skills.

  • Occasional emergency “blue light” deliveries.

  • Vehicle Maintenance and Safety Checks: Conducting routine vehicle checks to ensure safety and operational readiness. This includes:

    • Monitoring vehicle security.

    • Checking and maintaining fuel, oil, tyres, and other critical components.

    • Reporting any mechanical issues or required repairs promptly.

  • Loading and Unloading: Handling and transporting blood products and equipment safely, including assembling and dismantling equipment as required. You’ll often be lifting objects weighing up to 20 kg, both with and without the use of lifting aids.

  • Record Keeping: Accurately maintaining both electronic and paper-based records using handheld digital devices and Microsoft Office or similar IT packages. This will include:

    • Recording deliveries and collections.

    • Documenting vehicle checks and reporting any discrepancies.
