Faculty Overview

The Faculty of Health and Life Sciences (HLS) at DMU offers a diverse range of laboratory-based, pharmaceutical, healthcare, and social science courses. Within this faculty, the Leicester School of Allied Health Sciences provides various undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including the BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science and MSc Advanced Biomedical Science, both accredited by the IBMS.

Role Overview

We are looking for a self-motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our innovative Biomedical Science team. The successful candidate will have the expertise to teach across various areas of Biomedical Science, with specific knowledge and experience in key clinical specialisms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality teaching and assessment across undergraduate and postgraduate Biomedical Science programs.

  • Engage in large group teaching and contribute to modules such as cellular pathology, blood sciences, microbiology, and others as needed.

  • Supervise research projects and provide pastoral support to students.

  • Contribute to course management, development, and student recruitment efforts.

  • Actively work on projects aimed at enhancing the student experience.








Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will hold a degree in a relevant field and have either completed a PhD in Biomedical Science or possess equivalent experience as a practicing HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist, demonstrating the ability to transition into academia. You should possess:

  • Knowledge of and experience in applying blended learning approaches to create a customized and flexible learning experience.

  • Proficiency in conducting laboratory practical experiments and supervising undergraduate and postgraduate projects or work-based learning.

  • A passion for teaching and a commitment to academic excellence.
