Part-Time Lecturer in Social Work – University of Galway


The University of Galway invites applications for a part-time (0.5 FTE) Lecturer in Applied Social Science (Social Work), on a specific-purpose contract with an anticipated duration of approximately four years.

As a member of the Master’s in Social Work Programme teaching team, the successful candidate will be responsible for module coordination, delivery, assessment, professional tutoring, and providing administrative support for the program. They will also contribute to the Discipline of Applied Social Science (DASS) and occasionally support other programs within the discipline as agreed with the Head of Discipline. Additionally, the post-holder will teach a social work module to undergraduate students in the School of Political Science and Sociology and supervise Master’s level dissertations.

Salary: €61,758 to €98,523 pro rata per annum (applicable to new entrants effective from January 2011).

The salary will be in line with the Lecturer scale under the current Government pay policy and according to the University’s remuneration policy (QA321-Updated-PP-Remuneration.pdf available on university Galway. ie).

Closing Date: Applications must be submitted by 17:00 (Irish Time) on 7th November 2024. Late applications cannot be considered.

Interviews are expected to take place on-site during the week commencing 9th December 2024.

Expected Start Date: January 2025.

Requirements:

  • Garda vetting is mandatory.

  • Work authorization validation will be required before the appointment.
