We are currently seeking five enthusiastic and dedicated Distribution Assistants to join our team within Pre-Exams at Cambridge University Press & Assessment. This role is essential in ensuring that learners around the world receive their exam materials on time, that completed exam papers are handled accurately, and that certificates are dispatched to learners promptly once their results are confirmed. If you are looking to be part of a globally recognized academic publishing and assessment organization, and want to make a direct impact on learners' success, this opportunity could be perfect for you.

Who We Are

Cambridge University Press & Assessment is a world-leading academic publisher and assessment organization. We are proudly a part of the University of Cambridge, and our mission is to advance learning, knowledge, and research worldwide. As an organization, we are deeply committed to helping learners realize their full potential and are continuously evolving our practices to support the future of education.

About the Role

As a Distribution Assistant, your tasks will vary depending on the team you are placed in, but all roles are integral to the smooth operation of the Pre-Exams department. The work can either be desk-based or more active, involving periods of walking and standing, depending on the tasks at hand. Regardless of the specific responsibilities, each team member plays a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless delivery of exams to learners globally.

You will be involved in the exam process at multiple stages, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in the distribution and processing of exam materials. Your contributions will directly affect learners' experience, which makes this role incredibly important. Our learners depend on your dedication to ensure their exam materials are delivered and processed correctly, and that their results are certified on time.

Working Flexibly to Suit You

At Cambridge University Press & Assessment, we understand that flexibility is key to balancing work with life outside the office. We are open to discussions about part-time work or flexible working hours to accommodate your commitments, such as school runs or other personal responsibilities. We are proud advocates of flexible working, and we encourage applicants who need an adaptable work schedule to apply. You can read more about how we promote flexible working here.

Key Responsibilities

Your duties as a Distribution Assistant will vary, but you will typically be responsible for tasks such as:

  • Preparing and dispatching exam materials to learners

  • Receiving and processing completed exam papers

  • Managing the safe storage and transportation of exam materials

  • Ensuring that certificates are dispatched accurately and promptly once exam results have been processed

  • Operating a variety of bespoke machinery related to exam preparation and processing (experience in machine operation is desirable)

  • Collaborating with colleagues across different teams to ensure smooth workflows

  • Upholding rigorous health and safety standards in all tasks

Given the nature of the role, you will receive full training on our processes and systems, including health and safety protocols. Flexibility and a willingness to learn are key, as you will be working with different machinery and adapting to the needs of the department.

About You

To be successful in this role, you should be passionate about ensuring that learners have the best possible experience, as you will be directly contributing to their academic journey. We are looking for candidates who are flexible, detail-oriented, and eager to engage with continuous improvement processes. You will be joining a collaborative team where each member plays an essential part in maintaining the high standards we are known for.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and qualities:

  • Good computer skills: You will need to be comfortable using basic computer programs and systems to manage records and track materials.

  • Strong numeracy and literacy skills: Attention to detail is vital when handling exam papers, certificates, and other documentation.

  • Effective communication: You will be working with various teams and need to communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues.

  • A keen eye for detail: Precision is key, particularly when processing exam papers and certificates. Errors can have significant consequences for learners, so a focus on accuracy is crucial.

  • Commitment to continuous improvement: We are always looking for ways to improve our processes. Your feedback and willingness to embrace change will be valued.

  • Health and safety awareness: You will be required to follow health and safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment.

  • Experience in a production or distribution environment (desirable): While not essential, previous experience in a similar role will be beneficial.

  • Understanding of service level agreements (SLAs) (desirable): Experience working with SLAs and benchmarks is an advantage, though not required.

This role is ideal for someone with previous experience working with machinery, in a production or distribution environment, or for anyone looking to develop these skills in a supportive and structured environment.
