The School of Physical and Chemical Sciences (SPCS) is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Computer Science to join Queen Mary School Hainan (QMSH), a new transnational education initiative in China, in partnership with QMUL. This role is focused on teaching and scholarship, requiring the successful candidate to develop and deliver innovative teaching while contributing to the administration of QMSH. The post is based in London, with periodic travel to China to deliver intensive block teaching, as scheduled by the Executive Vice Dean of QMSH.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver high-quality teaching in subjects like generative coding for creativity, interaction design, and Java programming.

  • Engage in pedagogical research and innovation to enhance student experience and education quality.

  • Contribute to the academic administration of QMSH and work towards enhancing the educational landscape with global impact.

About You:

  • You will hold a PhD in Physics, Maths, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • You should have a strong background in subject knowledge and proven teaching experience, capable of designing and delivering impactful educational experiences.

  • You will have clear, ambitious plans for future pedagogical work aimed at creating an excellent student experience, both inside and outside the classroom, with a vision for influencing the global education landscape.

SPCS consists of the Department of Physics and Astronomy and the Department of Chemistry and is part of the Faculty of Science and Engineering. The School fosters a vibrant academic environment, with over 530 undergraduate students, 70 postgraduates, and 130 staff.
